One of our most frequently asked questions is “Should I keep the princess visit a surprise from my child?” While it is incredibly magical to watch the look of awe and wonder on your child’s face when an unexpected visitor waltzes into the party, it is important to think of your child’s temperament as well!
Here are some questions to ask yourself to help you determine whether or not you should keep your princess party a surprise.
How does your child handle surprises?
Is your child one to embrace surprises with excitement and wonder, or are they they type who become stressed and either shut down or start to cry. If your child falls into the first category, absolutely make the Utah princess visit a surprise! If a surprise visit from a princess will cause stress on your daughter, it may be wise to tell them in advance.
How does your child handle stress?
While a birthday party is meant to be fun, extra people in the home can sometimes cause stress on a child, even if it is also fun and entertaining. If your child is the type to become stressed out by parties or crowds, it may be wise to give them a run down of the princess party so that they can be prepared and excited when their favorite princess walks into the room.
How good is your child at waiting?
Some children cannot wait longer than five minutes. If you tell them that you are taking a family vacation, they ask every single day if its time to go yet, even though it’s not until next month. If your child is not very patient, we recommend waiting to tell your child until the last minute or keeping the princess visit a surprise entirely, so that you won’t be bombarded with questions about the princess for weeks leading up to the party.
How can you use it to your advantage?
If you tell your child about the princess visiting in advance, can you use it to your advantage? Can it become a reward that if they meet a certain goal, then the princess will come to their party? We have had parents tell us that because of our visit, their child was able to keep their room clean for weeks, or finally be potty trained! If you can turn the princess visit into a well-earned reward, we recommend doing so!
Ultimately, you know your child best, and you know whether or not it would be a good idea to keep the princess visit a surprise. Either way you decide to go, they will remember their experience for a lifetime! If you’re ready to book your princess character visit, jump on over to our booking page!
